David: “I have fallen in love a thousand times. Every time has been with you.” This photo is my favourite because I feel like it perfectly reflects the above statement in just one frame. The colours in the background are a great reminder of the unseasonably nice weather we had that day. I love the way we are totally into each other, oblivious to the world around us. This photo brings back so many memories of the day, I just smile every time I look at it.

Where was it?

David and I met on the runway at Gimli Airport when we were getting our Glider Pilot licenses. On our first date a few years later, David took me for an airplane ride over the airport where we met. For me, that was so sweet and romantic.

When we were planning our wedding, we knew we wanted to include aviation as a theme because of the role it had introducing us. So, we chose to do our ceremony just a few minutes down the road from the Gimli Airport. The morning of the wedding, instead of stressing over last minute details, David and I went flying over the place where we met and the ceremony location. It was thrilling to get a bird’s eye view of everything.

We enjoyed being able to take the time to remember the beginning of our relationship and reflect upon what this day meant to us.

Theme or Style…

Our theme was Aviation in Autumn combining our favourite pastime with our favourite season.

Jewellery/Accesories…

When I was two weeks old, my grandmother bought a pearl necklace for me to wear on my wedding day. She had my initials engraved on the clasp. My grandmother held on to these pearls for all of these years and I am still blown away by her thoughtfulness. My wedding band was given to my Nanny by my Poppa 59 years ago on their wedding day. I loved being able to wear jewellery from both sets of my grandparents.

Hair & Makeup…

My makeup and nails were done by my gorgeous step-sister, Rhiannon. The best part was hanging out with her the night before the wedding while she did my nails. It was special being able to spend time with her and reminisce about growing up together and how life has turned out. She’s getting married next and I hope to be as supportive for her as she has been for me.

The Groomsmen…

The groomsmen are great guys that really stepped up on the big day and made our lives easier by taking initiative and getting things done along with the bridesmaids. When I came to the ceremony site, I had not seen how things looked prior to the start of the ceremony. They did a beautiful job. We couldn’t ask for better friends.

The Bridesmaids…

My bridesmaids are the three awesomest chicks out there. They have been my best friends forever and the bonds we share are everlasting. I didn’t choose my bridesmaids, they chose me.

Wedding Favours…

We did paper gliders titled “Love is in the Air.” If you look closely, the bride and groom are flying the plane.

The Flowers…

Our flowers were crafted by my aunt, my cousin (Maid of Honour) and myself. I was so happy to have their eyes for detail and creative talents because the results were beautiful. We used high quality silk flowers that either went well with the autumn theme, or just looked pretty and we wanted to use them.

The Cake…

White chocolate lemon raspberry charlotte cake. Say that 5 times fast! It was important to have a gluten-free cake that everyone could enjoy. We had a wonderful time being indecisive while eating various types of cake from Goodies Bakeshop. Truth be told, we knew right away hat this cake would be the one. The best part was that our cake came in mini sizes which meant on date night we would go try our cake again “just to make sure.”

Invitations & Stationary…

My mother is a very talented scrapbooker and card maker. Every crease, every insert, every embellishment was done by her hands. I helped out, but my mom is the mastermind behind the project. The invitations were beautiful and had so many little details that made them flawless. The whole process all started with a trip to a paper making factory in the states. There, my mom and I selected the papers that had just the right amount of shimmer and were the precise shades of oranges and reds that we had in mind. The end results were better than I could have ever imagined. Thanks Mom!

Hey everyone… I have some simple wedding day advice for all Brides and Grooms to kick off this November:)  Every couple out there wants nothing more than a beautiful wedding day with very little stress… everything to run smooth and of course, to have fun!

The best thing you can do to start off your day is begin with something that relaxes you, calms you, and makes you happy.  This could be some spa time with your girls, breakfast and beers with your boys or some quiet alone time before the festivities start.  Whatever tradition you may have for each of you or as a couple… make sure you take time to enjoy it:):)

Here’s a great example… Leah & David met at flight school, fell in love and have decided to spend the rest of their lives together.  What would possibly be better to calm the nerves than an early morning flight???  Thanks so much L + D for bringing me up and making me a part of it!
