Rock Shoot #1 – Behind the Scenes!

Hey rockers!  Last week we had our first rock group shoot with an awesome team of up and coming photographers from Winnipeg.  Good times!  Because of the weather situation we planned this one to be an indoor studio lesson.  I can’t wait for the next shoot… in the sun!!!!  I was away in Calgary all week so Jake & Jess, Nghia & Coralee planned this one… thanks guys!  Nghia did some more complex studio lighting demonstrations, Jake & Jess did single studio lighting and Coralee did some simple but awesome external flash lighting.  Thanks to our two beautiful models Laura & Krista and also the wonderful makeup done by Siuleen from Splurge Beauty!  After the shoot we headed out for drinks and wings, it’s fun hangin out with photographers!  Thanks to all the wonderful people who came out for the fun.  Stay tuned on the rock blog for all the awesome model photos from the evening!  Enjoy:)

Rocktographers :101

Hey everyone, what a nice weekend hey!?  I had a wedding on Saturday and it was great to have nicer weather for a change:)

On Friday the 5 of us (Coralee, Jake, Jess, Nghia & myself) had the pleasure of speaking in front of a group of photography students currently attending Red River College and Tech Voc.  It was crazy fun!  I had promised myself long ago that I was done with powerpoint presentations, but it was for a great cause, lol.  I had a blast speaking but I really enjoyed hearing from the other rocktog’s!  We hang out together often but rarely talk about this stuff.  It was cool to hear how they got started and learn their workflows…I actually learned a lot and plan to make some additions to my own now:)  And their photos!… these guys (and gals) are good!  I talked way too much… during my presentation Nghia had to sneak to the back and wave his watch to give me a hint:)  My favorite part of the day was answering questions from the students and hearing what they like about photography.  It was fun times and very inspiring to be around these four amazing people!

Stay tuned for some more photos and details from the seminar on the Rock Blog this week.  We want to continue the inspiration all year and will be announcing dates for all of us to connect and have fun.  From hangin’ out for wings night to group model shoots… it’s gonna be a great year!  Some dates will be announced this week.  Thanks again to Henry’s for sponsoring us!  It is a pleasure working with you!

A morning must have!

Right out of Jake’s lucky hat:)

The Rocktographers Are Rockin’ Red River College

Hey everyone… Jake from Kamp Photography just posted some news over at the Rocktographers, check it out!

One of the biggest goals of the year for the Rocktographers, is to help spread some photo knowledge and love. Tomorrow the Rocktographers are headed to Red River College, to speak to the photography students about how we all got started in the photo business, some market tips and tricks, post production, and how the Rocktographers got started. Some photography students from Tech Voc will also be attending.

Students will have the opportunity to ask us all questions about the photo industry, and hopefully gain some insight into how it all works =) We are super excited about this opportunity, and can’t wait for it to start!!

We will also be video taping the 2 hour seminar, so stay tuned for some video from our talk, if you are a new photographer, there should be some interesting info in there for you as well =)

We are also honored to have Henry’s sponsoring our talk. Henry’s just opened up two different locations here in Winnipeg, so if you get a chance, go for a visit. The two Winnipeg locations are located at 1580 Kenaston Blvd, and 1592 Regent Ave.

Also… if you want to learn something cool today, check out a post over at Jessica Claire’s Blog, she shares some great processing techniques as well as camera settings.  It’s Totally Rad!

Keep on rockin’ =)
