Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada » Personal http://www.mooreblog.ca Curtis Moore - Winnipeg Wedding Photographer Thu, 29 Jul 2010 23:46:59 +0000 en hourly 1 http://wordpress.org/?v=3.0 Jason & Martina – A Hometown Reception (+ Bethany) http://www.mooreblog.ca/2010/07/jason-martina-a-hometown-reception-bethany/ http://www.mooreblog.ca/2010/07/jason-martina-a-hometown-reception-bethany/#comments Thu, 08 Jul 2010 20:34:55 +0000 Curtis http://www.mooreblog.ca/?p=4841 Hey again everyone… yes, I’m posting like a madman today, LOL!  Let’s just say that I’ve been busy:):)  For my one Saturday off this summer, all four of us headed to my hometown of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan to see me mom and dad.  My long-time family friend Jason was also throwing a reception for himself and his wife Martina while we were there.  Jason and his family go way back as our next door neighbors during the good old 80′s… good times!  swimming in the flooded streets, street hockey and any other trouble we could cause:):)  Jason & Martina were married this May in Germany where Martina is from.  I was supposed to photograph them in Berlin but unfortunately (or fortunately) my son Lucas was born at the same time.  They have 2 beautiful children Aurora & Soren and I grew up with his two brothers Kieran & Chay.  This was also Bethany’s first time on the dance floor so I had to post a few of those too:)  Thanks so much to the whole Kitts family and congrats!!!!  Enjoy!

After Monica & Gerard’s wedding, they brought me along on their trip to Santo Domingo which is the largest city and capital of the Dominican Republic. I will always remember it as “the city of dying animals”. You can see that in the photos:) It was such a cool experience driving through the countryside and then hitting the city. Oh, and the food was delicious! Thank so much Monica & Gerard for bringing me along!! Enjoy!

]]> http://www.mooreblog.ca/2010/06/santo-domingo-dominican-republic/feed/ 0 Winnipeg… Less than Kind http://www.mooreblog.ca/2010/06/winnipeg-less-than-kind/ http://www.mooreblog.ca/2010/06/winnipeg-less-than-kind/#comments Wed, 16 Jun 2010 21:11:16 +0000 Curtis http://www.mooreblog.ca/?p=4272 Hey everyone, so I recently found my favorite show on TV… Less than kind.  I’m blogging about this because many people I know have never heard of it!?!  Oh… did I mention that it’s all about Winnipeg??  Yup… shot here and everything!  The writing is amazing, quality is perfect, the actors rock… it’s probably the best show ever to come out of Canada (in my opinion anyways).  It really captures the essence of this lovely city and at many times, relates to the entire country.  It’s brilliant and I recommend you check it out!  It’s on HBO but I think it is about to come to CTV… I’m not sure though??  There are two seasons and a third one on the way… I can’t wait!  Here are some funny videos from the show… enjoy and let me know what you think!!

What a beautiful boy on such a beautiful day!  I’ll try to keep the details short and to the point but what a great experience this was:)  Most in part to hiring an amazing Doula for support!  Her name is Angela Maes with Birth Roots Doula Collective Inc.  Amazing indeed!

Our biggest concern all this time was that I would be away for a wedding in the Dominican from May 9th to May 18th and our due date was May 22nd.  We had to plan for the worst so last minute we hired Angela.  How lucky am I hey!?!?!?! The day I get back Amanda goes into labour!!

We sat down in the evening to watch some TV together and then… her water broke.  Just like in the movies, LOL!  We headed to the hospital and Angela was there to meet us and to get Amanda going on her labour.  For the next few hours while I slept in the car (again, aren’t I lucky, LOL!) Angela walked her around the hospital to get labour going.  Not to long into the evening I was called in to lend some support to Amanda now that labour was gettin’ serious:)  Luckily, we got into our own private room right away!  As part of her plan, Amanda notified the nurse that she would want an epidural.  That’s just how we roll… we have always been about the drugs.

As soon as we got into the room we decided to change it up and try to hot tub.  As soon as Amanda got in she immediately felt like she needed to push.  The nurse quickly checked and we were ready to go… he was coming!!  Obviously the plan changed and there would be no time for drugs… yikes!  We all ran into our room and immediately after one push the nurse was holding Luke’s little head.  Nothing was really set up and our doctor wasn’t even there yet.  A moment later our doctor arrived.  Angela quickly made Amanda feel very calm while she held for that last push.  One push later Lucas was here!!!  How exciting!!!  What an exciting experience and I have to say… Amanda is amazingly awesome!!  Thanks to my Mom for staying with Amanda and helping out while I was gone and thanks to my sis Breanne for being with us through all the labour:) And a huge thanks to Angela our Doula!  I can guarantee that it was due to her hard work and great handling that labour went so fast and clean:):)

(I had my fair share:)  After that we broke out her present… a T-ball set that she is currently in love with.  Thanks so much Amanda for always making her holiday occasions awesome!!  Enjoy!

Some of the gang thought it would be fun to hit the shore and brave the giant crashing waves.  I’ll be honest… I was happy to stay dry and capture the action from above:)  Check out some fun pics below and stay tuned for a video today!  The good thing that came out of everyone getting soaked was shopping for new (and dry) clothes before we left the town.  Oh yah, and Kenny got is 5D II a little too wet and it needed to take a break for the day, LOL!  I think it dried up by the evening:):)

After that we drove back to Ravello and toured the town with nice weather this time.  Very beautiful!  At the end of the day near sunset when the town was closing up, Kevin Swan and I were enjoying a beer when a nice man sat down and started to ask questions.  Before we knew what was happening, many of us were escorted to his wine store for some “Free” wine tasting.  I made it out without a purchase but I think a couple members of the group came home with a few boxes of wine, LOL!  What a great salesman he was:):)  We spent the rest of the evening drinking wine and speaking Irish (not sure why), LOL!  Good times!  Enjoy!
