It’s great to be green!

Hey everyone, before I get into the post I have to share how excited I am about sports right now!  It’s that time of year when Hockey & Basketball are worth watching, with Calgary fighting to be number one in the North West and King James kicking butt in Cleveland.  I can’t wait for the play-off fun to begin!  Also, the Master’s starts this week and Baseball is up and running as well… I love HD sports!!!

Yesterday, the awesome Emma from “Events by Emma” was part of “The Economics of Going Green” event by the Chamber of Commerce.  Inspired by her passion for the earth, Events by Emma created a unique GREEN TABLE DESIGN for the event to showcase how their full-service event planning services can connect with environmentally conscious vendors, reduce waste and energy use, support local growers and address and reduce the carbon footprint of any big event!

Their signature and stylish table design featured recycled paper, recycled glass, three local event suppliers, soy candles, linens maintained with eco-friendly products and more…. Special Thanks to Floral Elements, Urbanink and Planned Perfectly Linens in assisting with the dazzling design.

In addition, the Conference featured many businesses that provide green services and offered many speakers and presentations to encourage Manitoba businesses to rethink their business operations. Role models like Priscilla Boucher of Assiniboine Credit Union, Joe Van Belleghem of Victoria’s Dockside Green and Darren Swanson of the International institute for Sustainable Development were keynote speakers throughout the day and presented one common thread — a strong business case for going green. The conference also showcased other products, services and innovative ideas that will foster a greener tomorrow.

Events by Emma strongly believes that even in the wedding and event industry we all need to be socially, environmentally and ethically responsible.  Their presentation was definitely a show stopper!  Not a single person could walk by the table without stopping and making a comment of how great it looks.  Great job Emma & Team!

Let’s save our planet …. one event at a time!
